Iona Abbey Birlinn Stone-block Print

The Birlinn was the great warship and transport of the last medieval period in the West Highlands and Islands of Scotland. The inspiration for this print was the design on stone number 153 in the cloisters of Iona Abbey, a 14-15th century graveslab for a son of Clanranald,
Printed by hand, on heavyweight paper from a carved sandstone block, using my own technique, in an edition of 30. Mounted in a double black-core mount, with backboard.
Printing from a stone block gives a slightly rough, medieval look to the print.
A4 size, to be framed in an off-the-shelf A4 frame of your choice.

Supplied with an information card, explaning the origin of the design.
